Sharon Welch, an Atlanta Georgia native, began her career in real estate in 1983 and remains a licensed broker there. She and 30-year business partner and husband, Ron, relocated to Seabrook Island in 2005.
Her experience spans commercial and residential real estate, development partnerships, site acquisition, conservation zoning, new construction, and property management. In 2004, she and her husband became part of the ownership group of Bohicket Marina on Seabrook Island, which has since sold. She is the former President of the Board of Directors of the Bay Pointe Community on Seabrook Island, and later served as a Planning Commissioner for the Town of Seabrook Island.
Sharon is an advocate for nature preservation and loves hiking, boating, and is an expert marksman. She was the Coastal Resource Manager for Botany Bay Island, and worked with the South Carolina Nature Conservancy from 2011-2015.
You might recognize Sharon from walking on the beach with her beloved Scottish Terrier, Brodie. Brodie, retired from the show ring, has since passed in 2021, though his memory lives on in each sunrise and sunset. Sharon remains active with the AKC and continues to advocate for animal rights.
